Centennial Home Addition

Home Expansion with Thoughtful Design
Sustainable Design Build first connected with the Glencoe homeowners in Summer of 2025, when they expressed a desire to enhance their living space while preserving the timeless charm of their Centennial ranch-style home. From the start, the goal was clear: create a seamless home addition that would complement the existing structure while introducing modern functionality and improved flow.
Through a collaborative design process led by SDB’s in-house architect and interior designer, the team developed a plan focused on both practicality and aesthetics. The Glencoe Home Addition Project included framing a new 178-square-foot addition on a crawl space and reconfiguring existing interior square footage to establish a dedicated home office.
To enhance usability and privacy, SDB also incorporated pocket door installation, maximizing floor space while maintaining an open and connected feel throughout the home. The new office provides an ideal work-from-home environment, integrating natural light and thoughtful finishes that align perfectly with the home’s established style.
This Centennial home addition demonstrates Sustainable Design Build’s expertise in blending modern upgrades with classic architecture, delivering a highly functional and visually cohesive result tailored to the homeowner’s lifestyle.

Before Construction
Construction for the Glencoe home addition project in Centennial began at the end of July 2025, following a smooth and timely permit process. Sustainable Design Build found that Centennial’s building permits are generally accessible for both homeowners and contractors, which helped the project transition quickly from design to construction without delays.

Starting Construction
The first phase of work involved demolishing the rear portion of the home to make way for the new addition. SDB’s crew then excavated and poured a new concrete foundation, establishing a strong structural base for the forthcoming home office and expanded living space. This efficient start set the tone for a well-coordinated build that balanced precision, planning, and craftsmanship throughout every stage of the project.

Framing a Home Addition
After the concrete foundation was poured and inspected, we can see how quickly framing takes place on the home addition project. For this Centennial home, the client wanted to bump out the from the family room into the backyard in order to build a private home office. The return of the home office has been rising trend in home renovation projects for the last few years. Sustainable Design Build has seen a number of clients prioritize their home renovation project to include a home office along with whole home remodels or pop top additions.

Separating the Noise From The Focus
Every study or home office needs the ability to shut out the noise of everyday living in order to have a peaceful environment for focus. This Centennial Home Addition project had our interior designers and architects agree on a dual pocket door system so that no space was being encroached on by wide swinging doors but also creating a roomy entrance to the new addition.
